This June 16^th- 18^th, take a trip to Madison WI to the WIAA State Softball Championship and stay at the Howard Johnson Plaza Hotel.

What a season it has been! This year over 434 teams participated in this softball tournament. It has come a long way since its start in 1976! Come out and cheer on your favorite softball team as they battle it out for the title of State Champions!

Division 1 will begin with quarter final games beginning on Thursday at 9a.m. Games will continue throughout the day with the last game beginning at 3:30p.m. Semifinal games will be held at 6 and 8p.m. on Friday. On Saturday one team will have a State Championship victory after the final game at 5:30p.m.

Division 2 will begin with semifinals on Thursday at 6 and 8p.m and will have its championship game on Saturday at 3p.m.Division 3 has its semifinals on Friday at 1:30 and 3:30p.m. and a championship game at 12:30p.m. on Saturday. Division 4 also has its semifinals on Friday but game times are 9 a.m. and 11a.m. Division 4’s championship game is 10a.m. on Saturday.

This is the 23^rd Annual Isthmus Jazz Festival on the Terrace. It kicks off the summer with its gorgeous views, great jazz performers, and best of all, it’s FREE!

The festival is at Memorial Union Terrace and overlooks Lake Mendota. There will be a variety of different styles of jazz music including Dixieland, big band, funk, and even hip hop jazz. Jazz Festival performances begin at 5:00p.m. on Friday with the High School Jazz Allstars with the evening’s last performance at 10:00p.m. by The Tony Castaneda Latin Super Jazz Group. On Saturday, the performances begin at 1:00p.m. and its last performance beginning at 10:00p.m. Saturdays performers are the UW Jazz Orchestra, Jan Wheaton Quartet, Edgewood Jazz Ensemble, The Stellanovas, Marlin McKay Quintet, The Mike Frost Project, and Grupo Candela.

The menu has something for everyone to enjoy! There will be Johnsonville Brats, The famous Double Johnnys, Veggie Brats, and Oscar Mayer Hot Dogs. In addition, there will be corn on the cob, an array of delicious condiments, Pepsi soft drinks, beer, wine, and ice cream.

The music will be going all weekend and with 4 stages there will always be a rockin’ performer nearby. Some bands that will be there are Black Water Gin, The Love Monkeys, Taalbi Brothers, Weapons of Mass Defunktion, and Super Tuesday. The family will enjoy the Pepsi Street Team’s free samples, fireworks, the Oscar Mayer Mobile, kayaking, rock climbing, and exercising at the Bratfest Boot Camp.
