This is the 23rd Annual Isthmus Jazz Festival on the Terrace. It kicks off the summer with its gorgeous views, great jazz performers, and best of all, it’s FREE!
The festival is at Memorial Union Terrace and overlooks Lake Mendota. There will be a variety of different styles of jazz music including Dixieland, big band, funk, and even hip hop jazz. There will great music of old and great music of now. After each night's jazz, head back to the Howard Johnson Plaza Hotel for some rest and relaxation before heading out for more great activities.
Jazz Festival performances begin at 5:00p.m. on Friday with the High School Jazz Allstars with the evening’s last performance at 10:00p.m. by The Tony Castaneda Latin Super Jazz Group. On Saturday, the performances begin at 1:00p.m. and its last performance beginning at 10:00p.m. Saturdays performers are the UW Jazz Orchestra, Jan Wheaton Quartet, Edgewood Jazz Ensemble, The Stellanovas, Marlin McKay Quintet, The Mike Frost Project, and Grupo Candela.
