Stoughton Victorian Holiday Weekend Hotel




This year, start the holiday season off with a festive and fun weekend at the Stoughton Victorian Holiday Weekend while staying at the Howard Johnson Plaza Hotel.

Friday, December 3rd
Start the weekend off with a tree lighting ceremony by the town fire station. At the ceremony you will be entertained by the wonderful the Stoughton High School Madrigal Singers. Finish your night out at the Victorian Holiday Party at the town’s performing arts center. At the party, join in some 19th century dancing. There will even be lessons available! After a great night out, rest your head at the Howard Johnson Plaza Hotel.

Saturday, December 4th
On Saturday there will be all kinds of events to attend. There will be an Opera Open House, an arts and crafts show, a tree decorating contest, a Sugar Plum Fairy Tea, a Holiday Home Tour, a fire truck parade, a quilt show, crafts, and Santa’s Workshop to visit. Don’t miss the Nutcracker with two showings on Saturday at 1:30 and 7:30p.m.! All the while you will see people dressed in 19th century costumes. As you travel to all these great events, take a ride on the trolley, which is FREE today!

Sunday, December 5th
On Sunday all the action continues. Today is a very active day with a 5K Run/Walk and a Bed Race! Everyone is a winner at the 5k Run/walk. All participants receive a souvenir hat and refreshments. Awards will also be given out for top runners and for best dressed runners. The Bed Race begins at 11:30a.m. sharp. Competitors are in teams of 5, with one person on the bed and four pushing the bed. Decorate a bed, put on your nightcaps, and get your bed race on! Awards will be given to the winning racing team and the best dressed team.

In addition to these two action packed events, there will also be a historical driving tour, a performance by the Stoughton Norwegian Dancers, a holiday party and lunch with Santa, and more arts and craft fairs.

Hotel Near University of Wisconsin Madison First Year Parents’ Weekend


Stay at the Howard Johnson Plaza Hotel in Madison Wisconsin while visiting your University of Wisconsin Madison Freshman during First Year Parent’s Weekend. This three day event is pack full of fun and informative information. This year, First Year Parent’s Weekend is this November 12th, 13th, and 14th.


Friday:
Check-in is from 9:00a.m. until 7:00p.m. At 9:45a.m. there will be a welcome message. Lectures will begin at 10:00a.m. and continue through 4:00p.m. Lectures include: Financial Success, Study Abroad Programs, Go Big Read, Career Services, Student Involvement Activities, The Science of Drinking, and Second Year Housing. At 2:00-3:00p.m. there will be time to take photos with Bucky Badger. At 4:00p.m. the Chancellor will host a Q&A time with a panel of staff. The day will conclude with a parent reception from 5:00-6:00p.m. There are also optional activities for an additional fee including a hockey game, art tour, and/or singing concert.

Saturday:
Saturday begins with an 8:30a.m. pre-game activities at the UW Field House with food, music, Bucky the Badger, and fun! The Wisconsin v. Indiana football game begins at 11:00a.m.at Camp Randall Stadium. After the conclusion of the game, the fifth quarter begins. During that time, enjoy the entertainment of the UW Marching Band. Saturday’s optional activities are Farmer’s Market and Capitol Tour, art tour, a hockey game, and/or a singing concert.

Sunday:
Sunday’s big event is an awesome event for charity. The WASB’s Bare it All for Charity 5K Run/Walk begins at 11:00a.m Bring gently used clothing to donate and run/walk across the campus. All clothing will go to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. In addition to the run/walk, there will also be a photo booth set up from 10:00a.m. to 12:00p.m. for last minute photo opportunities for you and your freshman.
